“Years grow shorter, not longer…” -JB
Thats one of the countless influential phrases I have taken to heart and associated with my own life from the late, great, and wildly insightful Jimmy Buffett. And hearing the news of his passing early Saturday has planted this and all I interpret from it back to front and center in my own thinking.
Okay so where am I going with this or how on earth does this translate to Real Estate? I was talking with a couple colleagues about how there seems to be a general ‘wait and see’ atmosphere among buyers in our market, I have mentioned this notion in previous posts.
Most people buying in Aspen are doing it because they want to and are able to choose the incredible lifestyle offered to us in this little mountain paradise. You are buying into the life as much as you are the home or the land. While I fully support and respect the notion of trying to feel out the current market and buy at the ‘right’ time there is also the cost of doing business in terms of waiting. If you plan to own in Aspen for the next five or ten years, and historically Aspen home values have appreciated at an average over 7% annually, why not buy now? I get it, every percentage point counts especially when you’re spending millions of dollars, I love the business aspect of Real Estate. But, what is the time worth? Years grow shorter, not longer.
Call me today, lets find you Aspen dream home.
